Deposits & Cancellations

A deposit of 20% of the total trip cost is collected at the time of booking. The balance is collected the day of your trip.

Cancellations within two weeks of your scheduled trip date will result in forfeiture of your deposit. If you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled departure time, you’ll be responsible for the entire cost of the trip.

Weather Cancellations & Changes

In the event of weather conditions that your captain considers unsafe, we will work with you to either alter your trip, reschedule it, or cancel it and issue a refund.

If, for example, you have an offshore trip scheduled but conditions make offshore fishing unsafe, we may still be able to safely fish nearshore or inshore and refund you the difference in trip price.

If at all possible, we prefer to reschedule trips in the event of weather cancellations, but if rescheduling isn’t possible, we’ll happily issue a full refund.

Please understand unsafe and uncomfortable are not the same thing. As long as it’s safe to fish, we’ll proceed as planned even if conditions aren’t ideal. This determination is solely at the captain’s discretion.

Booking & Paying

There are a few ways to book and pay for your Beaufort charter with Sea Islands Adventures.

Booking by Phone or Email

You can reach out to us by phone, email, or the inquiry form on the contact page and reserve a trip the old-fashioned way. Please note that if we’re all on the water, you may have to leave a voicemail. We’ll get back to you as soon as reasonably possible.

Once we get your trip scheduled, we’ll send you PayPal invoice for your deposit (20% of the total trip cost). This can be paid with a credit card, Apple Pay, PayPal balance, etc.

The balance of the trip cost will be due the day of your trip and can be paid to your captain with cash, check, or PayPal.

Booking Online with AnyCreek

You can also book your trip online with a credit card through the AnyCreek.com platform. AnyCreek charges a 5% service fee on top of the charter cost.

Once your request to book through AnyCreek is approved, you’ll be charged a deposit of 20% of the total trip cost. Then AnyCreek will collect the balance the morning of your trip.

Gratuities

Tipping is at your discretion but is customary and deeply appreciated. Charter captains are generally tipped like servers — 15% to 20% for good service, 20% to 25% for an exceptional experience.

Where & When to Meet Us

Between booking and the day of your trip, we’ll stay in contact with you regarding the best meeting location and time. Where we meet depends on several factors:

  • What’s most convenient for you

  • Weather and water conditions

  • Trip type and duration

  • What’s been biting where

We can pick you up at the dock in Beaufort (downtown waterfront or Sams Point Landing), Port Royal (The Sands Landing), Saint Helena Island (Wallace Landing, Station Creek Landing, Eddings Point Landing), Fripp Island (Fripp Island Marina), or Russ Point Landing on Hunting Island.

The Day of Your Trip

What to Bring

Clothing & Personal Items

From late summer through fall, dress for hot weather but be prepared for a cool breeze in the morning on the way to the fishing grounds. It never hurts to bring a hoodie. In the cooler months, bring additional insulating layers and some kind of shell to break the wind. It’s always cooler on the water. On longer trips, consider bringing a rain jacket; summer storms can pop up quickly.

  • Polarized sunglasses

  • Hat

  • Sun-protective clothing

  • Sunscreen (please no spray sunscreen)

  • Corrective lenses, medications, etc.

Food & Drinks

We provide plenty of iced-down cooler space as well as water bottles on every trip. We do ask, though, that each guest bring a reusable water bottle to cut down on single-use plastic containers.

Feel free to bring snacks and/or lunch and anything besides water you want to drink. There’s plenty of room in our coolers as well as dry storage space. Sandwiches, etc., should be in waterproof containers. Alcoholic beverages are fine if consumed responsibly. No glass bottles please.

Miscellaneous

On cruises and tours, you’re welcome to play your music through the boat’s Bluetooth audio system. Please understand that at times the captain may need to turn the music down or off for safety reasons.

On cruises and tours, you may want to bring binoculars, field guides, etc.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on cruises and tours. Please bring a leash and a water bowl.

What Not to Bring

  • Rods and reels. If you want to bring a favorite outfit or two, let us know beforehand so we can make sure there’s room. But we provide top-shelf, meticulously maintained tackle that’s ideally suited for our target species and conditions.

  • Lures and bait. All lures, bait and terminal tackle are provided.

  • Big coolers. We’ve got lots of cooler space available. Feel free to bring a small cooler (preferably soft) with snacks, etc. Another big cooler on the boat just gets in the way.

  • Spray sunscreen. It makes decks slippery, turns upholstery and fiberglass orange, and doesn’t work as well as lotion or sticks.

  • Glass containers.

  • Illegal drugs.

Harvesting Fish

Generally speaking, we’re happy for guests to harvest fish on charters in accordance with South Carolina regulations. Many of the species we catch — for the backwaters to the Gulf Stream — make excellent table fare, and we’re happy to help newer anglers choose what to keep.

The only legal fish that we discourage guests from keeping are speckled trout, redfish, flounder, and sheepshead over 20” in length. We have partnered with Release Over 20, a nonprofit organization that encourages releasing all individuals of these species over 20” in order to preserve the resource for future generations.

Charter prices include fish cleaning. At the end of the day, your captain will fillet and zipper bag your catch. If you plan to keep fish, consider having an iced-down cooler in your vehicle.

For a special treat, you can also consider taking your catch to Locals Raw Bar in Beaufort, where local chefs will prepare it. Just let us know while we’re on the boat, and we’ll call ahead and let them know when you’re coming, what kind of fishing you’re bringing, and what preparation you have in mind.
